Abstract
515,668. Optical systems. ASCHE, R. E. Feb. 28, 1938, No. 6279. Void. Convention date, March 4, 1937. [Class 97 (i)] In a beam - splitting system for colour photography light-transmitting reflecting surfaces are arranged to intersect. As shown, the system comprises prisms 1, 2, 3 dividing the beam from a lens, parts a being reflected by silvered strips 4, 5, parts b by a silvered surface 6, and parts c being transmitted. The prisms are placed close to the lens, and immediately adjacent to rectangular blocks 8, 9 and totally-reflecting prisms 10, 11, to produce images in one plane; colour filters may be arranged between the parts of the svstem. The prisms 10, 11 are separated by an air gap 12 which may be used, in conjunction with variations in the angles of the-prisms and glass plates stuck to the prisms, to equalize the lengths of the light paths. The strips 5, 6 on the prism 1 may be replaced by a semi-transparent surface, and the outer surface of the prisms 1, 2 may be silvered or unsilvered.
