Abstract
515,497. Fluid - pressure servomotor - control systems. BRANDENBURGISCHE MOTORENWERKE GES. June 3, 1938, No. 16712. Convention date, June 4, 1937. [Class 135] An aircraft engine driving, a variable-pitch screw, the speed of which is maintained constant by a governor, is provided with means whereby the pressure or density of the charge between. the supercharger and a throttle valve controlling the supply thereto is maintained constant by a regulating - device actuating the throttle valve. The Figure shows a supercharger 2 with its inlet conduit 3 fitted with a throttle 1 controlled by a hand lever 24 and also automatically by a servomotor 9, the valve 13 of which is actuated by a capsule 10 in a chamber 11 connected at 12 to the conduit 3. When a two-stage supercharger is used, the means for switching in the second stage is connected to the capsule 10 to vary the setting of the valve 13. Where a supercharger driven by variable-speed gearing is used, the pressure in the conduit 3 is varied with the speed of the supercharger. The valve 13 may be provided with a control slide to vary its action. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the hand lever 24 also acts on the loading-spring of a centrifugal governor which controls the pitch of the airscrew through another fluid - pressure servomotor. This subject-matter does not appear in. the Specification as accepted.
