[Class 51 (ii)] Electric furnaces for heat treating articles are provided with means for circulating gases consisting of centrifugal fans e, Fig. 3, arranged outside the heating-chamber a in flues d. Divergent deflectors a<2> direct the gases into the centre of each fan which forces them through a spiral casing into the flue d. The gases are directed back into the chamber at the end adjacent the door f. In a modification, Fig. 5, the fans g are arranged at the centre of each flue h<1> into which they are directed by deflectors h<2>. Two fans may be arranged in each flue delivering the gases to opposite ends of the chamber h.
