Abstract

514,549. Gauging screw threads. HOOPER, A. E. Feb. 23, 1939, No. 18353. Divided out of Complete Specification of 513,263. [Class 106 (ii)] Relates to gauges having opposed master forms provided with teeth of the correct form and pitch and carried in the limbs of a U-shaped member, and consists in making one limb 23 adjustable to and from the other limb 24 which carries the master form 1 in a guide 26a so that it may be displaced to actuate a sensitive indicator 30. The limb 23 is adjustable along a slot in a base 25 and is clamped at 26. The forms 1 are of T-shape the leg of the T being slotted to engage a'boll. One form 1 is clamped to limb 23 by bolt and nut 19, 18, the other being received in a guide 26a with its slot engaging a stud 27. The end of the slot is pressed against the stud by leaf springs attached to the fixture 29 and engaging the end of the form. The plunger of a dial gauge 30 also engages the end of the form. The edge of the form is bevelled to a knife edge.
