[Class 110 (ii)] A rotor 1, with or without vanes, is mounted on a vertical shaft 5, and is rotated by fluid passing from inlet 9, to outlet 10, in different. planes, the fluid passing between the rotor and a groove 8. The flange 12 may be fixed directly to the flange 13, or a distance piece may be inserted, which has a bye-pass passage between the ports 9, 10, so that only part of the fluid passes through the meter. A fan 20 rotates in a damping chamber 19 filled with liquid. When steam is being metered. the damping liquid is water. Plates 22, 23, keep the chambers 19, 28, separate from one another. Vertical fins - 21 assist the damping. Recording or indicating mechanism is driven through gearing 5a, 30.
