Abstract
512,375. Alloys. METALLGES. AKT.-GES. Oct. 31, 1938, No. 31498. Convention date, Feb. 7. [Class 82 (i)] Permanent magnets of the known ironnickel-aluminium alloys comprising 77-50 per cent. of iron, 15-30 per cent. of nickel and 8-20 per cent. of aluminium with or without small quantities of titanium. cobalt, molybdenum, chromium, and vanadium, are made by pressing and sintering a mixture of the component metals in powder form to produce a homogeneous alloy, at least 60 per cent. of the iron powder used passing through a sieve of 10,000 mesh per square centimetre, the grain size of the nickel powder and the balance of the iron powder varying as much as possible. The whole of the iron powder used may pass through a sieve of 10,000 mesh per square centimetre or the balance of the iron powder may pass through a sieve of 5,000-10,000 mesh per square centimetre.
