Abstract
A dense alloy is composed of at least 75 per cent by weight of a main constituent consisting of W and/or Mo and at least 2 per cent by weight of a minor constituent of Fe and Ni and/or Co, with or without Cr, the ratio <FORM:0760113/II/1> being from 3/2 to 3 and the Cr, if present not exceeding 15 per cent by weight of the alloy. A preferred composition is:W and/or Mo 80-96 per cent; Fe and Ni (in proportions such that <FORM:0760113/II/2> the remainder. The alloy is formed by powder metallurgy (see Group XXII). According to the Provisional Specification, Mn may be present in the minor constituent which may have a lower limit of 0.5 per cent. Specifications 447,567, 495,668, 497,747, 517,442, 521,012 [Group XXII] and 531,117 are referred to.
