[Classes 39 (iii) and 126] An electric cooker comprises an outer casing including a unit 1 composed at least of the front and side walls of the casing, and a chassis or frame 16, 17 made separately from and insertable into the unit 1, this chassis or frame, when in position in the unit, supporting the oven body 5a and a casing 20 for the grill chamber in alignment with openings in the front wall of the unit. The unit may be made in one piece, and the chassis may be insertable into the unit through the back of the latter, which is then closed by plates 13. The chassis is supported at the rear by a bracket 21 attached to the unit 1, and at the front by a part 23 resting on a flange 22 on the unit 1. Lugs on the post 23 engage in slots in the flange 22. Depressions or corrugations 19 are formed in the chassis to accommodate expansion effects. The oven body 5a has similar corrugations 5b which may also support oven shelves 5c. The oven body, which is of sheet steel, is supported at the rear by a heat-insulating block 33 in a socket 34, and at the front by members 30 which abut against corner pieces 18 forming part of the chassis, clips on the members 30 pressing the oven body forward against the inturned part 11 around the oven opening in the front wall. The oven may be insulated, e.g., with glass wool. An air space, communicating with the external atmosphere, is left between the chassis and the external casing. A vent 50 for the oven may be controlled 'by a slide valve 54 operated from the front of the cooker by a spindle 52 and crank or other linkage 53. At the top of the cooker, a lower plate 35, resting on the outer casing 1 and the tear wall of the casing 20, supports heating elements 36, 37 and an upper plate 39, insulation 40 being interposed. The outer casing rests on metal rods 44 forming skids. The drawers 7, 8 in the grilling chamber and in a utility chamber in the lower part 16 of the chassis are mounted on anti-friction bearings 59, and their inward movement is limited by resilient buffers 27.
