[Class 20 (iv)] Relates to a unit for use in casting concrete floors and adapted to be left in the finished construction so that its undersurface may serve as a base to support plaster or like material constituting the ceiling. According to the invention, the unit comprises forms 3 of inverted-V or arch shape which are mounted on a base 1 by means of spaced laths 2 engaging the edges of the forms and secured to the base. The base 1 comprises a number of boards which are spaced slightly apart and connected by the laths 2. The forms, which may be of plywood, are adapted to be sprung into position between the laths 2 so as to have a non-integral connection therewith. The units shown in Fig. 3 are anchored to the concrete 5 which is cast over the units by bolts 6 mounted in the laths 2. The joint between two abutting units may be covered by an arch member 8, Fig. 3, or the end laths on these units may be disposed in contact. The plaster ceiling 7 may be applied to reeds mounted on the base 1. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the head 12 of the anchor bolt 6 is disposed between two insulating and yieldable discs 13, 14 mounted in recesses in the board 1 and lath 2; the shank of the bolt 6 passes through a hole 15 in the lath, and an insulating and yieldable strip 16 is placed over the lath The strip 16, which, during casting of the concrete, is somewhat compressed, expands after removal of the supporting means for the unit and tends to separate from the concrete. When the forms are of inverted-V shape, two or three of such members may be disposed on a single base. The spaces between the forms and the base may be filled with insulating material.
