Abstract
510,033. Fastenings. BROMILOW & EDWARDS, Ltd., and McDONALD, R. April 25, 1938, No. 12319. [Class 44] Mechanism for securing and releasing a tophinged tail or side door 5 for a tipping body on a vehicle, comprises a cranked lever 7, normally bearing against a tread plate 9, furnished with an arcuate slot 11 engaging a pivot 10 on the body frame 2 and connected, by a hinge pin 14, with a triangular plate 13 pivoted at 12 on the body frame, the plate being further connected by a cable 15 over a pulley 16 to the vehicle chassis at 17 to the rear of the body pivot 3. The lever 7 is so balanced that it falls to open position on the pivot 10 occupying the front end of the slot 11. On bringing the body 4 back to horizontal, the tail or side door is automatically re-secured.
