Abstract
509,380. Skis. WEBER, S. Oct. 27, 1938, No. 31116. Convention date, Nov. 17, 1937. [Class 132 (i)] In a device for fastening a boot to a ski, a resilient extensible strap 1 or the equivalent is looped around the instep and its two ends are anchored to the ski 3 at points rearwardly of the position of the heel. The strap may be made of indiarubber or consist of a spiral spring enclosed in a sheath. The strap may be provided with rings or a cross-link at its ends which are engaged with hooks on the ski. Alternatively, the cross-link 6 may engage with a shoulder on a lever 7 mounted on the ski. After the link 6 is placed in the shoulder space, the lever 7 is turned down to the horizontal position and held there by a projection 10 on the lever engaging in a hole 11 in a bracket 8. In another arrangement, the projection 10 is omitted and the lever 7 rests in its horizontal position owing to the link 6 being pulled under an overhanging portion 14 of a bracket 15.
