Abstract
507,347. Draught - excluding strips for sliding windows. SLEIGH, H. L., CHESTON, A: S., and BOOTH, J. H. Jan. 19, 1938, No. 1710. [Class 20 (iii)] A weather-excluding strip, particularly intended for sliding windows, comprises a core in the form of a flattened metallic coil having overlapping turns lying substantially in a common plane, and a covering of felt or other resilient material. In the construction shown, the core consists of two flattened intermeshing coils 8, 9, which are suitably secured to the covering 6. The covering may be of felt, plush, moquette, or like material, and has a narrow band of pile 7 which, when the strip is fitted in position, engages with the sliding window pane. The core may be secured to the covering by stitching, riveting, or by the use of an adhesive. For example, the core or the covering may be coated with gum, or again, adhesive tape, adhesive on both surfaces, may be wrapped around the core prior to the application of the covering. Alternatively, a covering of liquid or paste rubber is first applied to the core and the outer covering secured to the rubber.
