Abstract

506,803. Artificial silk; films; dyestuff preparations; dyeing. GROVES, W. W. (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.) Dec. 2, 1937, No. 33352. [Classes 2 (ii), 2 (iii), and 15 (ii)] Pigmented artiticial fibres, films, and the like are made by incorporating in an aqueous spinning solution or in the solvent or other liquid miscible with the spinning solution, a pulverulent or coarse-grained preparation .made from a kneadable mass produced by intensive mechanical working of the pigment with a water-soluble. carrier in a keading machine, e.g. rollers. In examples, the pulverulent or coarse-grained preparation is made from (1) 70 parts titanium dioxide and 30 parts sodium salt of a condensation product of #-naphthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde ; (2) 45 parts titanium dioxide and 60 parts of a plastic mixture consisting of anhydrous sodium sulphate and the sodium salt of the condensation product of #-naphthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde ; (3) 40 parts of soot and 60 parts of the sodium salt of the condensation product of #-naphthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde ; (4) 60-40 parts of dyestuff and 40-60 parts of a water-soluble carrier; (5) 70 parts of titanium dioxide, 30 parts of the condensation product of naphthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde, and water ; (6) 40 parts of titanium dioxide, 40 parts of sulphite cellulose waste liquor, 20 parts of anhydrous sodium sulphate, and water ; (7) 40 parts of soot, 60 parts of the condensation product of naphthalene sulphonic acid, and water.; (8) 40 parts of dyestuff made as described in Specification 419,666 by brominating dibenzanthrone in chlorosulphonic acid in presence of sulphur, 60 parts of the condensation product of naphthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde and water; (9) 60 parts of indigo, 40 parts of the condensation product of naphthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde, and water; (10) 40 parts of Heliogen Blue B, 60 parts of the condensation product of naphthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde, water; (11) 40 parts of Heliogen Blue B, 40 parts of the condensation product of naphthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde and 20 parts of ammonium sulphate ; (12) 60 parts of Permanent Red FRL, 40 parts of the condensation product of naphthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde, and water; (13) 60 parts Permanent Orange G, 40 parts of a condensation product of naphthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde, and water; and (14) 20 parts of 1, 2- benzocarbazole-Bz-3-oxy-Bz-2-carboxylic acid para-anisidide, 40 parts of sodium benzyl sulphanilate, 40 parts of the condensation product of naphthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde, and water. In the last example, any desired tint may be developed in the spun thread by means of a diazo component.
