Abstract
506,139. Firebridges ; baffles. PUFFETT, H., and PARKER, W. A. Sept. 29, 1938, No. 28326.. [Class 51 (i)] In a boiler furnace air is supplied through one or more conduits 7 arranged in the ashpit to an elongated heating-chamber 8 arranged at the rear of the firebridge 3 and provided with an elongated opening 12 communicating with a chamber 13 in the firebridge from which it passes to the furnace flue through openings 14. The bridge is built up of bars having webs which provide a partition 26 separating the chamber 13 from a chamber 5 which communicates with the ashpit and through openings 6 with the fireplace. Air from the ashpit may pass through an opening controllod by a damper 16 to a combustion chamber 9 in front of a baffle wall 10 provided with passages 11 and a V-shape recess at the top. The damper 16 may be controlled in connection with a furnace door as described in Specification 425,116.
