[Class 86] In apparatus for melting and mixing chocolate of the kind comprising a jacketed vessel having a central shaft with a radially-arranged frame fitted with a stirrer, the stirrer is in the form of an inclined vane or disc 19 carried on a shaft 18 mounted in the radial frame 14 and rotated by the engagement of a gear 20 with a stationary gear 21. Superposed shafts 18 with vanes may be fitted, one of the shafts being at right-angles to the other.
