Abstract
504,255. Portable huts ; ventilating ; controlling heat. NEWCON INDUSTRIES, Ltd., ADAMS, C. H., and CROWDEN, G. P. Nov. 9, 1937, No. 26991/38. Divided out of 492,182. [Class . 20 (i)] [Also in Group XIII] In order to avoid extremes of temperature within a cabinet or building, the walls and roof are formed of panels connected together, each panel comprising three separated layers and E - section frames, one or all of the layers being metal faced, forming double air spaces the inner air spaces of the walls and roof being in communication. Each panel 12 comprises substantially E- shaped frame bars 34 one face of the intermediate flange lying in the centre of the section, and the outer edges of the section being provided with further projections 40 to form recesses for the edges of the outer panel layers 42 formed of laminated-paper impregnated with artificial-resin, the intermediate layer 44 being secured to the intermediate flange. The panels are provided with scaling strips 48, Fig. 4, and the panels are joined together by toggle levers 60. The external panel layers may be of plywood impregnated with resin, or of sheet material having an asbestos base to render the building non- inflammable. The floor panels 24 are constructed of cork, faced with linoleum, and are assembled with overlapping joints at the edges of their metal frames 28. In an alternative construction the panel frame members comprise two channel section bars 70, Fig. 7, secured together by adjacent flanges with the middle layer between them, and the securing bolts 76 passing through the flanges of the bars are insulated therein at 78. Air may be supplied through a conditioner 18 and passes through apertures in the inner wall layers to the inner wall spaces, and thence to the inner roof spaces through communicating apertures in the juxtaposed frame members.
