Abstract
492,182. Portable huts ; ventilating ; heat-controlling. NEWCON INDUSTRIES, Ltd., CROWDEN, G. P., and ADAMS, C. H. March 15, 1937, Nos. 7592 and 30767. [Classes 20 (i) and 137] [Also in Group XIII] In order to avoid extremes of temperature within a cabinet or building, the walls and roof are formed of three separated layers, one or all of which are metal faced, forming double air spaces, and conditioned air is supplied to the cabinet and passes through apertures in the wall to the inner wall space, thence to the inner roof space and out through apertures in the outer layer. Air is supplied through the conditioner 18 to the interior, and apertures 50 are provided in the lower portions of the walls through which the air passes to the inner wall spaces, through communicating apertures 52, Fig. 2, to the inner roof space and thence through aperture 56, 58 to the outer air. The walls and roof are formed of juxtaposed panels, each provided with sealing edge strips 48, Fig. 4, and the panels are joined by toggle levers 60. Each panel comprises E-shaped frame bars, outer layers 42 of laminated paper impregnated with artificial resin, and a middle layer 44 faced on both sides with aluminium foil. The external layers of the panels may be plywood impregnated with resin or sheet material having an asbestos basis to render the building non- inflammable. The floor panels are constructed of cork faced with linoleum and are assembled with overlapping joints at the edges of their metal frames. In an alternative construction, the panel-frame members are formed of two channel-section bars secured together by adjacent flanges with the middle layer between them, and the securing bolts passing through the flanges of the bars are insulated from the central layer.
