Abstract

502,633. Screw and endless-chain conveyers; hoppers. HOPE'S HEATING & LIGHTING, Ltd., and RICHARDSON, V. Jan. 21, 1938, No. 2026. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XII] Fuel is fed to the grates of a pair of adjacent cylindrical flues a of a boiler or other furnace through a pair of feed troughs b arranged one within each and at adjacent sides of the flues. Each trough is provided with a screw conveyer e, or with chains or other means for feeding fuel, and fuel is fed to the conveyers from a hopper d having a breeches piece delivering to both conveyers. The fuel passes from the troughs b to grates k, arranged at one side and at the rear. Air is supplied to compartments g beneath the troughs from which it passes to the tuyeres f. Air may also pass from the compartments g through damper controlled openings in partitions h to the compartments m beneath the grates k.
