[Class 37] In a device for measuring the moisture content of paper or similar sheet material by measuring its resistance, the paper or other sheet 10 is pressed against two flat electrodes 1, 2 on the same side of the sheet 10 by an insulating plate 9, the plate 9 and a similar plate 8, supporting the electrodes, being pressed together in known manner. The electrodes 1, 2 are included in the grid-cathode circuit of a thermionic valve, the deflection of an ammeter in the anode circuit supplied with D.C. or A.C. serving as a measure of the moisture content.
