[Class 40 (iii)] The earth end of the resistance 4 of a resistance-capacity coupling 3, 4 to the modulating electrode 2 of a magnetically focused cathode-ray tube 1 is isolated from earth, when the receiver is switched off, to leave on the modulating electrode a potential which corresponds substantially with the full negative charge of the condenser.
