Abstract
501,432. Induction motors. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. May 22, 1937, No. 14313. Void. Convention-date, May 25, 1936. [Class 35] An asynchronous motor has a disc-shaped rotor 1 of non-magnetic conducting material such as aluminium or copper, provided opposite the stator poles with trapezium-shaped inserts 2 of magnetic material, preferably soft iron, the radial cross-sections of the non-magnetic portions inside and outside the magnetic parts being larger than, preferably twice as large as, the transverse cross-section of the radially extending portions between the inserts. The number of stator poles situated on each side of the disc is smaller than the number of magnetic inserts and has no divisor in common there. with. Poles on one side are displaced with respect to those on the other side and overlap them when viewed in the axial direction. Currents displaced 90‹ in phase are supplied to the stator poles on opposite sides of the disc and these may be obtained from a single-phase source with a condenser in one phase. Four sector-shaped poles a<1> ... b<2>. Fig. 4, on one side of the disc may be displaced 'by 45‹ relatively to four similar poles c<1>... d<2> on the other side. The motor may be adapted for use with a three-phase supply.
