501,010. Sugar-cutters. HESSER :MASCHINENFABRIK AKT.-GES., F., and SCHWINGER, H. Aug. 16, 1937, No. 22431. [Class 127] [Also in Group XVII] In a machine for cutting up slabs of sugar and packing the resulting pieces in boxes, the slabs are fed from the bottom of a hopper 2 by a plunger 3 on to a conveyer 4 with entraining members 5. The conveyer feeds the slabs by intermittent steps beneath a cutting device 10, the arrangement of the knives being diagrammatically indicated in plan in Fig. 7. The slab I is moved a distance equal to the width of a piece of sugar beneath a knife 11 which makes a transverse cut for each movement, and three short knives 13 ... 15, which cut the resulting bars into pieces.
