Abstract
500,597. Fusible cut-outs ; heating water by electricity. BENNETT, B. J. Sept. 21, 1937, No. 25578. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A fuse device for an electric liquid-heater comprises a fuse element mounted on a holder which is accessible from the outside of the heater so that it can easily be removed. Shortage of liquid in the heater permits the element to fuse and so break the heating circuit. A screwthreaded sleeve 1 is secured in one side of a tubular body 3 of a heating apparatus by means of nuts 2 and 6. The fuse element 13 is in the form of a spring secured at one end to the stem H of a plug 9. The stem carrying the element is inserted in the sleeve and the insulated head 14 of the plug is screwed on to the outside of the sleeve as at 10. The free end of the element abuts against a contact stud 17a to which is attached a lead 22 from the electrical source. The heating element 4 is secured to the sleeve 1 by a terminal 5. Fig. 6 shows the application of the fuse to the heater described in Specification 435,160, [Group XI].
