Abstract

500,464. Nether garments. ATLAS UNDERWEAR CO. Aug. 10, 1938, No. 23620. Convention date, Sept. 23, 1937. [Class 141] A nether garment comprises an elastic abdominal supporting girdle 10 which is wider at the front than at the rear, and a shorts portion 14 which is secured to the girdle along the lower front edge thereof, and transversely of the girdle at the sides 19 of the garment, the upper rear edge of the shorts portion which is provided with an elastic element 17a being free from the girdle so as to provide a drop scat. The upper part 12 of the girdle is preferably less yielding than the remainder thereof. The shorts portion comprises front overlapping sections 15a, 15b, a crotch section 16, and a rear section 17 formed with side extensions 18a, 18b, which are secured to the edges of the front sections, elastic material preferably being provided in the hems of the leg openings. In a modification, the shorts are formed with leg portions.
