499,960. Non-contact-making relays. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. June 15, 1937, No. 16629. Convention date, July 10, 1936. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXV] A D.C. saturated inductance 1 acting as a relay and having a self excited winding 4, fed over a rectifier arrangement 7 by the traversing alternating current, and one or more independent D.C. saturating windings 5, 6 is arranged, when the winding 5 is energized through resistance 10 to oppose the winding 4, to pass either of two values of the traversing alternating current. If contact 11 is closed to increase the effect of winding 5, then on opening of this contact the inductance 1 permits the passage of the lower of the two values of the alternating current referred to above. The higher value is obtained by momentary closure of contact 12 to energize winding 6 which acts cumulatively with winding 4 and this higher value is sufficient to operate a device 2 in series with inductance 1 which device may be a signal bell or releasing coil or may comprise a rectifier in combination with a further D.C. saturated inductance. In another arrangement, Fig. 3 the winding 6 is omitted and the winding 5 is arranged to be connected to the rectifier arrangement 9 supplying it through push button switching means 15, 16 whereby it can be connected either to assist or to oppose the effect of winding 4. The winding 4 has a glow discharge tube 14 arranged in series therewith and is shunted together with this tube by a resistance 13. Alternatively the discharge tube 14 and resistance 13 are omitted, the rectifier arrangement supplying winding 4 having a saturable core inductance connected in its alternating current circuit and being shunted together with this inductance by an air cored inductance. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 456,828.
