Abstract

498,551. Windscreen-cleaners. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION, and HORTON, E. C. Dec. 2, 1937, No. 33409. [Class 138 (i)] The blade of a windscreen-wiper is connected to the wiper arm by an attachment device so formed as to allow relative rocking between the device and blade as the wiper is oscillated, this rocking acting to press the blade against the screen. The resilient blade 9 is mounted in a metal carrier which has a cylindrical portion 6 to receive a head 11 on the blade and marginal portions 8 to limit flexing of the blade. The attaching device consists of a clip 14 with straps 15 which conform to the contour of, and embrace, the part 6 of the carrier, so that the latter is free to rotate in the straps. The free ends of the latter project through apertures 16 in the portions 8, so that they engage the blade 9 and press it against the windscreen as the carrier rotates in the straps during successive strokes of the wiper. The degree to which the ears project through the openings is limited by shoulders 18, and the openings 16 may be offset. The device 14 is adapted for connection to various forms of wiper arm 3. As shown, the arm has a slot to receive a fin 19 on the device. An opening 20 allows connection by means of a bolt, and for the hooked type of arm, the device has spaced walls 21 and abutments 22 which co-operate with a shoulder 23 of the fin to provide an opening 24 to receive the hook.
