Abstract
498,338. Kiln furnaces. WHITELEY, J., and WHITELEY, C. Sept. 6, 1937, No. 24253. [Class 51 (i)] A kiln fireplace b communicates with the interior of the kiln by way of flues c, d and has arranged below the grate f which is at ground level an ashpit h provided with a partition k and perforated gratings i, j, for controlling the admission of air to the grate. A basket p may be arranged in the ashpit to receive ashes and facilitate their removal. Cleaning and stoking doors m, o with air admission regulators are arranged at the front of the combustion chamber and the stoking door o may be replaced by a fuel hopper.
