Abstract

498,313. Envelopes. SAWDON, V..J. July 5, 1937, No. 18693. Convention date, July 16, 1936. [Class 146 (ii)] A reply envelope comprises a front panel 1, a bottom flap 2 folded over and secured at one side by adhesive 3 to the panel 1, a side flap 4 folded over, and temporarily secured by a spot of adhesive 5 to the flap 4, a top flap 12 provided with adhesive 19, and an extension 8, 11 adapted to be folded over the flaps 2, 12 about a perforated line 10 and provided with an adhesive tab 7. For first postal transmission, after folding over the extension 8, 11 the envelope is folded backwardly about a line 6, and sealed by the tab 7 which is secured on the portion 8. The portion 8 is cut-away at 9 to allow the flap 4 to be pulled out for inspection of the contents of the envelope. The recipient tears the tab 7, removes the extension by tearing along the perforated line 10, and reseals the envelope by means of the adhesive 19 which secures the flap 12 to both the flaps 2 and 4 so that no inspection of contents is permitted on the second transmission. An aperture window may be provided in either of the portions 8, 11 to reveal the address for the first transmission.
