Abstract
497,505. Universal joints. HARDY, SPICER, & CO., Ltd., and DANIELL, J. A. Oct. 28, 1937, No. 29449. [Class 80 (ii)] Axially arranged pins 11, secured alternately to driving and driven yokes (not shown), are endwise located, as by vulcanization in holes in a coupling disc 13 of flexible material such as rubber, the portions 14 of the disc in which the pins are secured, being surrounded by coaxial grooves 19, so that they are connected to the remainder of the disc by parts of less axial dimension. Relative axial movement is facilitated thereby. Thin metal shells 16, 17 are vulcanized to the inner and outer peripheries of the disc, and the pins 11 are in the form of sleeves mounted on other pins 15. Specification 387,178 is referred to.
