Abstract

497,271. Hand rakes. COPE & COPE, Ltd., and COPE, W. J. June 15, 1937, No. 16589. [Class 6 (ii)] The tines of a rake are adjustable to vary the span of the rake by means of toggles and an operating device that extends up the handle to a point within reach of the user's hands. Three tines may be employed, the outer tines 1, 3 being pivoted on a bolt 5 and the central tine 2 being movable longitudinally in a bore 61 in the end of the handle 6. The tines are connected together by pivoted toggles 10 and the central tine is connected to a rod 13 which extends along the handle 6 and is joined to a sliding sleeve 15. Additional tines actuated by additional links may be placed on the bolt 5. The distance between the tines is adjusted by moving the sleeve 15.
