Abstract
832,931. Garden implements. SHUTE, W. A., and CRIBB, E. T. July 1, 1958 [July 8, 1957], No. 21569/57. Class.6(2). A garden implement comprises a digging blade 7 mounted in a shaft 2 connected to a prime mover a, a hood 10 being pivoted which is adjustable longitudinally of the shaft. The shaft 2 is mounted inside a tube 5 in which slides a tube 9 attached to the hood 10. The movement of the hood is limited by stops 13, 14 on a member 11. A spigot 8 is formed on the end of the shaft. A handlebar is attached to the prime mover a. The implement is held vertically and lowered into the ground until the hood contacts the stop 14. The implement is then lifted until the hood just clears the ground, the blade being shielded by the hood which acts as a guard.
