[Class] 136 (i)] In a prop or stand attachment for bicycles, of the type comprising trestle legs pivoted for movement in the longitudinal direction of the cycle, an arm or bracket extending downwards from the crank bracket carries four pivoted struts, of which the pairs pivotally movable in one plane are adapted to be folded together, united by locking-means, and jointly swung into and out of the operative position. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, an arm or bracket 8 of U-shaped cross-section is secured beneath the crank bracket 4 by means of plates 5, 7 and a bolt 6, and is provided with a pivot pin 9 for four outwardly-cranked struts 10, 101, 11, 111, the pairs 10, 10<1> and 11, 11<1> respectively pivoting in the same plane so that they can be folded together, locked by a fastening device inserted in slots 14, and swung back into a horizontal inoperative position. Two tension springs 13 hold the struts in both the operative and inoperative positions, and the struts 10<1>, 11<1> are separated from the struts 10, 11 by a torsion spring on the pivot pin 9. The struts are pressed down into the operative position by the rider's feet, and may be used as a two-point prop support, or, by releasing the struts 10<1>, 11<1>, as a four-point trestle-like support, the spread being limited by stops at their upper pivoted ends. The struts may be rigidly connected together transversely in pairs, only a single spring 13 being then required. The struts may be held in the longitudinallyspread operative position by means of a vertical spring-urged sliding bolt having at its lower end a wedge-shaped recess adapted in the operative position to fit over and hold the pivoted upper ends of the struts. The bolt may be locked in position by a key.
