Abstract
496,674. Electron multipliers and circuits therefor. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and BANKS, G. B. June 5, 1937, No. 15652. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] Two or more electron-multiplier tubes are connected in cascade through a coupling such as a condenser K1 impervious to direct current. In a radio-receiver, the first tube may be a highfrequency amplifier and the second a detector and low-frequency amplifier the coupling comprising a tuned circuit (replacing resistance R1) and a condenser. Transformer coupling may also be employed. The tubes may be assembled in a single envelope with common deflecting and focusing-field systems and a common supply, and corresponding field plates F1, F2 and secondary-emitting electrodes S1, S2 may be connected together within the envelope.
