Abstract

495,878. Chairs and tables. VINEGRAD, C. May 25, 1937, No. 14543. [Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iii)] Relates to collapsable chairs especially of the kind comprising a seat 3, Fig. 1, pivoted at 4 between pairs of inverted V-legs 1, 2 pivoted together at 12. According to the invention, a back 7 is provided which extends below the seat and bears against the rear legs 2 or a transverse bar 10 in the open position, and which in the closed position extends approximately the whole length. As shown, an angle bracket 8 is attached to the back and is pivoted at 9 to the seat. The back may be held in the open position by a clip or lock. The collapsed chair is intended to be fitted between table supports or in side recesses 18, Fig. 7, in the supports 15. The ends of the legs may bear against a shoulder 20 in the recess and may be held in place by fitting over a rail or shoulder and the chair may be further secured by a spring clip 22 beneath the table top 14.
