Abstract

495,390. Sliding - clasp fastenings. CORNER, G. H. C., and LIGHTNING FASTENERS, Ltd. May 11, 1937, No. 13415. [Class 44] The slider for a sliding-clasp fastener comprises a body 1 of non-metallic material having a metal bridge-piece 4 to retain the pull tab 6, such bridge-piece being fixed to projections 2, 3 on the body of the slider or to recesses in the body of the slider. For example, the metal may be deformed into engagement with channels 5 cut into the projections 2, 3 at their base. The projections 2, 3 may be separately formed and secured to the body of the slider by cementing. In another form, the slider body is recessed to receive the ends of the bridge-piece, such ends being shaped so that they are retained by sticking a strip of non-metallic material to cover a part or the whole of the recess. The metal bridge-piece may be of aluminium coloured by dyeing. According to the Provisional Specification, a leaf spring acting as a locking device for the slider may be clamped between the metal bridge-piece and one of the projections.
