[Class 74 (i)] To enable net to be made on lace machines from a smaller number of warp threads than heretofore, the threads are arranged in two sets, entered in two bars and are controlled so as to co-operate each with three bobbin threads. Each thread of one set co-operates alternately with one thread of the second set to pillar or form a tie with a pair or group of adjacent bobbin threads and with another thread of the second set to pillar or tie with a different pair or group of bobbin threads. The Figure shows, a four-motion net composed of bobbin threads b, front warps fw and back warps bw. At the beginning of the first motion two warps are located between alternate pairs of bobbin threads. At the first motion of the two warp bars, in opposite directions, the front warps fall one gait, while the back warps rise two gaits. At the second motion the front warps fall two gaits and the back warps rise one gait ; at the third motion the front warps rise one gait and the back warps fall two gaits, while at the fourth motion the front warps rise two gaits while the back warps fall one gait. A somewhat similar net may be made in eight or twelve motions. There may be additional threads twisting with the bobbin threads.
