495,246. Engine valve-gear. OLSSON, J., and AKTIEBOLAGET GOTAVERKEN. Feb. 3, 1938, No. 3431. [Class 122 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVII] Spring-loaded valves 15 of steam engines are actuated by cams or the like 18, 19 on the crankshaft, pivoted rockers 24, 25 pull rods 27, 28, and a cross-beam 29 connecting these rods to the valve. The beam may be connected to the pull rods and to the valve stem by joints of spherical form. The pull rods may be replaced by push rods, and the cams may act on the rods directly. The cams may be formed on the cranks of the main shaft, or on their counterbalance weights, or may comprise grooves in the crank arms or discs.
