Abstract

494,788. Spray carburetters; vaporizers. KIELHOLZ, H. Aug. 27, 1937, No. 23531. Convention date, Aug. 28, 1936. [Class 7 (iii)] Fuel is supplied from a float-chamber 36 to electrically heated interconnected pipe rings of unequal cross-section in a space 14 surrounding the induction passage. The fuel is vaporized in the larger ring and the vapour is heated in the smaller ring and delivered through apertures 5<1> into a constricted part of the induction passage. As shown to the left of the Figure, the fuel is led first to a pipe ring 9 surrounded by a double heating coil 10 and the vapour passes into a pipe ring 11 surrounded by a single heating coil 12. The space 14 is filled with material of poor heat conductivity. As shown to the right of the Figure, the pipe rings 9, 10 are of prismatic crosssection, separated by a perforated partition 9<1> and surrounded by heat-conducting material 13 of different thickness. During slow running, fuel is drawn from the ring 10 through a passage 41 mixed with air and delivered pastarotatable valve 29 above the throttle valve 27- During acceleration, a pump 22, in the float chamber, operated by a lever 24 actuated by an arm 26 adjustably connected to the throttle valve, supplies additional fuel through a nozzle 34.
