Abstract

259,908. Barberis, S. Oct. 17, 1925, [Convention date]. Vaporizers, external.-In an electrically-heated vaporizer, the fuel is supplied from a float chamber 1 and passage 6 to the lower part of a chamber 8, and passes through nozzles 9, 9<1> in a partition 8<1> to the upper part of the chamber 8 where it is vaporized. Mounted above the nozzles is a metal ring 28 which encloses inverted cupshaped members 25, 27, both of refractory material and provided respectively with diametrical partitions 25', 27<1>, which divide the vaporizing chamber into two compartments, one above each nozzle. The disc 25<11> of the member 25 is perforated, the heating-element 14 being threaded through the perforations and connected at its ends to the metal ring 28 and to a central metal stem 29. The fuel vapour passes from the vaporizer through conduits 31, 31<1>, the conduit 31 communicating through an annular chamber 20<1> with orifices 18 in a choke tube 20 in the mixing-chamber 21, and the conduit 31<1> supplying orifices 32<11> in a. subsidiary mixing-chamber 33 which opens into the main mixing-chamber 21 adjacent one throttle 22 and supplies mixture for slow running. Air may be admitted to the annular chamber 20<1> through a spring-loaded Bowden-operated valve.
