[Class 116] [Also in Group XVII] Ribbons or other . narrow fabrics are stored in containers which are mounted on a shop counter or other support having compartments in which portions of the ribbons may be displayed, parts of the compartments being defined'by the containers themselves. A counter-top 10, Fig. 1, may have glass partitions 12, 14 positioned by the containers 16 for the ribbons. The containers may consist of a rectangular cover 24, Fig. 3, with an aperture 18 for the passage of the ribbon 20, and with a slidable insert 26, which may be a four-sided frame without top or bottom, or a frame with a bottom to form a drawer. Glass partitions may be eliminated by using containers 32 having deep outer members 36, Fig. 6, and a shallower cover 40 which fits within the outer member and has an aperture 42 for the passage of ribbon, this ribbon being displayed on top of the cover 40. The outer members are assembled together in direct contact to form display compartments as in Fig. 5. The container may have a storage compartment 50, Fig. 9, and a display compartment 52, formed by a partition 58 and a false bottom 62. The ribbon may issue either from the top of the storage compartment 50, or through the partition 58, into the display compartment. In a modification, vertical containers 70, Fig. 12, may be spaced on the counter 10 by wood blocks &c., 76. The containers may have the ribbon wound freely, or on spools with horizontal or vertical axes. A container suitable for use in the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 may have a base 98, Fig. 15 carrying a pin 96 for a spool 108 from which the ribbon is guided through an aperture 100 by a roller 102 on a spindle 104 secured at 106 to the container.
