Abstract

493,009. Moulding frames about transparent panels. MOULDED PRODUCTS, Ltd., and IRELAND, H. W. F. Aug. 13, 1937, No. 22362. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group X] - Apparatus for constructing a box, case, or other structure 5 having a transparent panel 6 comprises dies 11, 16 adapted to hold and locate the panel with its edge and a marginal portion adjacent the edge on one or both sides exposed, and adapted also to define a space into which moulding material, forming the case or the like, is run or forced under pressure. Further, means such as peripheral ridges on the dies are provided to prevent the moulding material from passing on to the panel within the boundaries of the exposed portion. The panel shown has a reduced marginal edge 7 both sides of which enter the moulding space. Alternatively the panel may have a bevelled edge and in this case the marginal portion adjacent one edge only need be exposed. The lower die 11 is fitted with a stripping tool 22 adapted to remove the material 24 which remains in the inflow passage of the upper die. The removal of the case or the like from the upper die is effected by a spring-controlled ejector 21. The lower die has a recess 13 for receiving and thereby positioning the thickened centre portion of the panel. Specification 482,696 is referred to.
