[Class 120 (ii)] In mechanism for drawing slivers or rovings which includes drawing roller pairs 3, 4 ; 7, 8 and a feed roller pair 1, 2, Fig. 5, the feed rollers are of the form set forth in Specification 468,480 and comprise a lower fluted or grooved roller 1 rotated at constant speed and an upper porcupine roller 2 positively rotated by the lower roller 1 and having rows of pins 21 set along its peripheral surface which enter the flutes or grooves 20 in the roller 1, Figs. 1 and 2. The roller 2 is provided with a toothed pinion or pinions 22 meshing with the flutes 20 to ensure registration of the pins 21 therein. The speeds of the rollers are such that there is a greater draft than the usual 1À2 to 1À5 between the feed rollers 1, 2 and the first drawing roller pair 3, 4 and these rollers are separated by a distance less than the length of the fibres so that the fibres are positively gripped and are combed by the pins 21. The roller pairs 3, 4 ; 7, 8 are suitably loaded and the sliver 12 is traversed laterally by a guide bar 10. To ensure that the sliver 12 makes sufficient contact with the roller 2 it is wrapped round a guide roller 14, Fig. 5. Intermediate slip rollers 5, 6 are provided, the lower roller 5 being fluted and the upper roller 6 having a covering 23 of rubber or other soft material. These rollers are geared together by deep toothed pinions. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the drawing- apparatus shown in Fig. 6 (Cancelled) wherein the sliver 12 is deflected over an extension 11 of the traverse-bar 10, the rollers 5, 6 are loaded by a roller 15 and a deflecting roller is provided between the roller pairs 3, 4 and 5, 6. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
