[Class 61 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXXI and XIV] A portable compound supporting - block adapted to serve as a support for a vehicle or to provide successive fulcrums for a lever in extracting or raising objects from the ground &c. comprises a main block A and one or more auxiliary blocks B, C, D, pivotally connected to the main block so that they may be brought successively into position to increase the effective height. The block A is formed with vertical ends and sloping sides, the blocks B, C, D being pivotally connected thereto by arms G, the length of each upper block being greater than that of the block below by the thickness of the arms. The blocks may be of wood or metal. When of wood, metal corner pieces L and end plates K may be provided. For storage or carriage, the auxiliary blocks may be swung round into engagement, side by side with the undersurface of the block A, a carrying handle M being provided.
