Abstract
487,753. Gas-masks. INGRAM, G. Dec. 3, 1937, No. 33477. [Class 81 (ii)] A gas-mask having around its boundary a flexible rubber margin strip 2, which may be either in the form of pneumatic tubing or a thin flat strip of rubber, is characterized in that the eye piece or pieces 3 is or are provided with a flexible rubber surround 4 which makes intimate contact with the face by means of the increased pressure when exhaling, thus preventing breath reaching the eye piece or pieces, these being entirely surrounded by the main air space within the mask. The flexible surround to the eye piece or pieces may be pneumatic tubing, Fig. 2, which may be moulded to fit the features or it may be a flap of solid or sponge rubber as shown in Fig. 3. The exhaust valve 5 and inlet valve 6 are situated beneath the nose of the wearer.
