487,602. Photographic developing compositions and reversal processes. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. Dec. 22, 1936, No. 35162. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1935. [Class 98 (ii)] In a photographic reversal process in which the image is blackened directly by the second development without intermediate exposure, a compound is used for the second development, either with or without an ordinary developer, which contains in an open chain or heterocyclic nucleus the atom grouping -CO-C(OH)- or -COH=COH-. Dioxindol, benzoin, and dioxythionaphthene, and their substitution products, and benzoin sulphonic acid, are examples of such compounds. Examples of compositions incorporating such compounds are furnished. The use of sodium hydrosulphite and thiosinamine is referred to.
