Abstract

487,421. Winding yarns. SHAW, W. Jan. 21, 1937, No. 1767. [Class 120 (ii)] In order to prevent successive layers of material being wound exactly above one another the synchronism between the speed of the winding spindle and of the shaft driving the traverse guide is destroyed by mounting the winding spindle a or a shaft driving it in alignment with the shaft b driving the traverse guide and mounting a pinion c on the shaft b in gear with an internally-toothed ring d having a greater number of teeth than the pinion, the ring being revolubly supported in a part e and carrying laterally-projecting dogs a<1> which engage radial slots f<1> in a sleeve f fixed to the winding spindle or shaft ; by this means the spindle a or shaft is driven at a constant speed very slightly below that of the shaft b.
