487,274. Siphon-discharge water-wastepreventers. ROSS, T., ROSS, W., and ROSS, A. M., (trading as ROSS & SONS, W.). April 5, 1937, No. 9548. [Class 26] A siphon for a flushing cistern adapted tc be discharged automatically at intervals comprises a buoyancy operated valve engageable with a seat carried by the down limbs of siphon or a branch connection to the down limb, and magnetic means presenting a predetermined resistance to the lifting of the valve. The branch 2, of greater cross-sectional area than the siphon limb, presents an inclined valve seat, and to it is hinged a flap valve 3 carrying a float 4. A magnet 6 is mounted on the branch and a keeper 7 on the valve, or vice versa. Alternatively, the valve itself may be of magnetic metal. The magnet or keeper may be adjustably mounted.
