Abstract
486,966. Making electrical junction boxes. GARRATT, W. J., and GARRATT, H. Dec. 16, 1936, No. 34503. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Flanging; punching; punches.-A junction box is produced by stamping or like operations from a single sheet-metal blank, one or more indentations or small holes being formed in the blank to indicate in the completed box the positions at which orifices are to be produced for receiving conduit-coupling spouts. Indentations b, Fig. 1, are formed in a blank a which is stamped to produce a box c. Holes are produced at the positions b by drilling. Alternatively holes are formed in the heated blank by a punch j with a centring projection j<1> co-operating with a die j<2>, the work being located by plungers h which engage the indentations b or holes already punched out. Flanges e<1>, Fig. 5, are formed about the edges of the holes so formed by a tool g which forces the box c, supported on a centring pin f<2>, over a tool f<1>. An ejector g<2> is mounted on the base.
