Abstract
486,462. Moulding wallboard &c. REDDIE, L. N. (Aktiebolaget Defibrator) Feb. 4, 1937, No. 3391. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XVI] In single or multi-storey presses with horizontal vertically-movable press platens 6, Fig. 1, between which the material such as wallboard, is fed on wire cloths 8, the cloths are connected to their driving means by chains, ropes, &c. 10 that are guided by guides 12 movable with the platens and also by guides 14 that are mounted independently of the platens. The cloths are wound up on spring or other rollers 9, and are drawn between the platens by a vertical or horizontal roller 15. The guides 14 are so placed that the ropes 10 are not tensioned when the platens rise and do not therefore cause unwanted displacement of the wire clothes. In a modification, the ropes are secured at their ends on supports 23, Fig. 5, and are drawn by the depression of a bar 24 having rods 22 engaging the ropes between their supports 23 and fixed guides 21. In some cases, the ropes are guided by pulleys on a fixed axis and are drawn by the depression of a roller pulley forming a parallel loop in the ropes between the guide pulley and the anchorages of the ends of the ropes. In a modification, the ends of the ropes pass over further guiding devices and are connected to pistons movable in inter-connected cylinders provided with liquid or other fluid, whereby the tensions on the ropes are equalized.
