Abstract

484,945. Refrigerating. MAIURI, G. April 1, 1937, No. 9288. [Class 29] Absorption systems.-In an apparatus of the type described in Specification 391,378, the evaporator for the liquid refrigerant readily drains and is located at a higher level than the portions of the apparatus in which absorption liquor circulates. Refrigerant is vaporized from absorption solution into an inert gas in vessel c and the mixture is led through pipe d to a condenser e cooled by solid carbon dioxide in chamber b. Liquefied refrigerant flows through pipe g to evaporator h which may be packed with wire gauze. The evaporated refrigerant passes through pipe r to vessel n and the force of flow of the vapour causes absorption liquor to circulate from vessel n to vessel p and through heat exchanger to vessel c. The return flow takes place through exchanger j and vessel l to vessel n. The compartment a is thus cooled by the evaporation in vessels c and h.
